- Clinical Nurse Specialist / PICU
Description
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in the PICU provides clinical leadership and expertise for population-based nursing care to integrate evidence-based care, advance clinical practice, achieve optimal nurse-sensitive patient outcomes and facilitate transitions of care. The CNS provides leadership and mentoring to support the inter-professional team in the evaluation and implementation of evidence-based therapies and research. The CNS will function independently as needed in all aspects of work area clinical operations on a 24-hour basis. The CNS will collaborate with other work area leaders in the supervision of unit staff and implementation of projects to achieve the goals and objectives of the work area.
The PICU is 36-bed unit across two locations in the hospital. The PICU provides family-centered, multidisciplinary care for critically ill patients ranging from infancy through young adulthood. We utilize advanced therapies and equipment to care for patients with rare diseases, post-liver and kidney transplants, Level 1 traumas, and complex medical/surgical cases.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 5+ years of recent PICU experience required. Previous supervisory and CNS experience preferred minimum of 1 year.
Education/Licensure/Certification: 5+ years of recent PICU specialty experience required. Previous supervisory and CNS experience preferred. CA RN license, CNS certification is required.
