JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides outpatient cardiac rehabilitation utilizing both policy and procedures and standards of practice for the department. Takes the referral, assesses patients, and creates an individual Plan of Care and Exercise Prescription for each participant. Monitors participants during exercise sessions. Keeps participants safe during the exercise session.

Operates the Outpatient Anti-Coagulation Clinic. Takes the referral, assesses patients, provides Point of Care INR testing after performing a finger stick, and follows American College of cardiology guidelines to dose Coumadin. Communicates with ordering physician/provider regarding patient condition.

Conducts both group and one-on-one education. Assures education is individualized for each patient.

Utilizes the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to document care and education for each patient. Enters orders and charges as needed.

Maintains equipment and requests service as needed.

Keeps abreast of new treatments, technology by attending seminars, journals, etc.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: 

Current Indiana RN license required. Extensive experience in arrhythmia interpretation required. BSN preferred. Current BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers and ACLS or ALS certifications required. Anti-Coagulation certification required. CCU or ED experience preferred.
